Our care is unmatched

Just the two of us

Balboa Island Cat Sitting is Peter and Katie. A husband and wife duo, no roster — the same pair of hands from the meet-and-greet to the day you get home.

We’ve always been cat people

Cats have been part of our home and our lives for years. We love their quirks, their routines, and the fact that every cat has a completely different idea of what friendship should look like.

Peter previously worked as a veterinary technician before becoming an entrepreneur and software developer. His time in veterinary care gave him practical experience with feline health, medication routines, and the small changes in behavior that can signal something deserves closer attention.

Katie came from the regulatory world, where details matter and instructions are there for a reason. She brings that same care and attentiveness to every visit—from following a cat’s routine exactly to making sure their people receive a thoughtful update.

For years, kitten season meant welcoming foster kittens into our home, usually four at a time. We cared for each little group until they reached two pounds and were ready for adoption. It was rewarding, funny, messy, and occasionally chaotic—and we loved being part of their journey.

Eventually, we stepped back from fostering for the sake of our own cats: two big, ten-year-old brothers who had patiently shared their territory with enough energetic kittens. They were ready for a quieter home.

Cat sitting gives us the best of both worlds. Our boys keep their peace and quiet, while we still get to make more feline friends—each with their own personality, preferences, and rules about how things should be done.

That history shapes the way we care for cats today. We understand that some will greet us at the door, some need time before deciding we’re acceptable, and others prefer companionship from the other side of the room. We don’t expect cats to adapt to us. We pay attention and adapt to them.
